There is no “I” in “Team”
Louisville, even without a major sports stadium or arena, is enamored of sports – all year long. Rival high school teams can fill a football stadium with thousands even on a rainy cold night. Few dare schedule events during March Madness and all eyes are on the U of L Cardinals. Can Christians function as teams in defeating Satan in Metro Louisville?
God’s Word says of doing the task given to us: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart (Hebrews 12:1-3).
God’s Word says of God’s promise: God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful (1Corinthians 1:9).

The Task Force Coordinators: J. W. Hutchens, Charles Barnes, Ross Bauscher, Wesley Pitts
They have worked much longer than the rest of the Task Force. They might ask you to pray: Pray for us, so that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified everywhere [especially this summer in Louisville, Kentucky], just as it is among you (1 Thessalonians 3:1).
Teams and Chairmen:
+ Intentional Community Evangelism (ICE): Chairman Charles Davis. ICE begins early with training and then encounters with people in various locations in the city to share the Gospel and win them to the Lord.
+ Prayer: Chairman Greg Smith. Has had prayerwalks already, asking God to open hearts preparing people to receive the message at the different activities. Will pray at ministry locations and host a prayer room during the meetings of the SBC.
+ Hispanic: Chairman Joshua Del Risco. Activities include ministry at Churchill Downs with the many Hispanic men and women working there, a festival, worship services nightly, and more. Pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit such as we have never seen and in every manner needed.
+ Block Parties: Chairman Rob Gibson. Churches in many areas of the city will host block parties during Crossover. The far-reaching goal will be to plant new churches or strengthen existing ones. Fun and food should draw people who will find expressions of Christ’s love.
More to pray about next time.
Got Compassion?
On April 18, 2009, about 700,000 people crowded Waterfront Park for Thunder Over Louisville, an all-day event with an air show and fireworks that began two weeks of activities leading to the Kentucky Derby on May 2. The number worshipping in all the churches in the area the next day would have been much smaller – and many of the 700,000 do not know the Lord.
God’s Word says of Jesus: When he saw the crowds, he had compasssion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” ~ Matthew 9:36
God’s Word says about what God can do: “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen” ~ Ephesians 3:20-21
Dare we believe and ask in faith that God can and will do remarkable things in Louisville?
Talk to God about…

~ Pray for those who will travel to Louisville to share the gospel.
“If we are to see a great spiritual awakening in our day, we must give ourselves to united, fervent, and persistent intercessory prayer.” T. W. Hunt in Disciple’s Prayer Life.
How Much More?
God’s Word says of Jesus: As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.” Luke 19:41
God’s Word records Paul’s words: Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. Romans 10:1
In the first verse, change Jerusalem to Louisville, and in the second verse, change Israelites to Louisvillians. Make this your cause for weeping and your prayer for the people as we move toward Crossover Louisville 2009
Louisville is not the capital but is the largest city in Kentucky. The fleur de lis is a symbol of Louisville, a city named for a French king. Fleur de lis – lily flower—is not necessarily a lily but may be an iris, a lily, or other plant related to it. This symbol is seen in various forms from designs on buildings to lovely jewelry. Look for it.
“Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. …Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith”! Luke 12:22-23, 27-29
Let the fleur de lis represent the people of Louisville. The city is beautiful today with the spring flowers and flowering trees. God made them and cares for them. God made and cares for each of the thousands of persons who live in this city. Surveys indicate that most of them do not have a personal relationship with God. Each week we will look at some aspect of this city through the eyes of love as we plead for the Holy Spirit to prepare the hearts of the people to find in the Crossover events something that draws them to God.
Talk to God about…

~ All involved being committed to glorifying God & winning the lost during this time.

We look forward to hearing from you.
